That's funny.  I've had the same feeling about a game where I swore I had
a better solution.  However, the puzzle you describe in Sorcerer wasn't
one of them.  I thought that it was very obvious what I had to do, and I
didn't even consider it a real puzzle.  On the other hand, Spoiler for
Zork II.























You have the dog at the end of the game and presumably, you've got the
wand from the Wizard of Froboz.  Why can't you cast "fear" on the dog
instead of retrieving a dog collar and putting it on the dog?  Casting
"fear and scaring the dog seems more logical to me.  What does a dog
collar have to do with making a dog tame anyway?
