     You can use the video game in the arcade to get by the hellhound, or 
you can use the branch from the tree near the Magick Shoppe to pull the 
platypus out of the pit.  You do not need to wish for anything in order 
to finish the game.

     It's been a while, so I don't remember... I think that, if you have 
wished for luck, the chance that the boot patrol will catch you is much 
lessened, and if you are caught in jail, you will never be taken to 
execution (not that that does you much good if you can't get out the 
second time, grin).  The hellhound will also never kill you if you have 
wished for luck.  It has several other uses as well, but I can't think of 
what they are off-hand.
